At Artemis, we believe a wedding should be an unforgettable experience for everyone. From the first sip of your welcome cocktail to the final toast, every detail of the food and drink should feel special, curated, and tailored to you.
That’s why we’re so passionate about helping couples create an unforgettable drinks experience that enhances their celebration. Through our expertly crafted drinks offering, including our new made-to-order cocktails and carefully selected wine lists, we aim to create showstopping moments throughout the day. And when it comes to the dining experience, nothing completes it quite like the right wine.
To explore the role wine plays in creating those memorable moments, we spoke to our Executive Bar Manager, Scott Bradbury, whose knowledge, passion, and care are at the heart of our approach to drinks at Artemis weddings.
Q: Why is wine such an important part of a wedding celebration?
Scott: A wedding is all about experience, and wine adds to that in such a beautiful way. Sitting down with your favourite people, enjoying incredible food, and having a great glass of wine in hand – that’s what brings it all together. It’s a drink we associate with celebration, and for many people, it’s not something they have every day. So it feels special.
It’s also a great opportunity to try something new. We’ll help you choose wines that complement your menu and introduce you to options you might not have come across before – something unique that reflects you as a couple.
Q: How much wine should couples plan for?
Scott: We usually recommend at least half a bottle per person during the wedding breakfast – that’s about two large glasses each, and it’s generally just the right amount to keep things flowing without being too much. However, if you’d like to offer more or have a specific vision in mind, that’s no problem; we can absolutely tailor it.
Q: Should wine be served all day?
Scott: Not necessarily – we like to look at the day as a journey. You might want something like a made-to-order cocktail or a refreshing spritz for your arrival and reception drinks. It’s good to have something fun and celebratory to kick things off.
Wine really comes into its own during the wedding breakfast, where it pairs beautifully with the food. That’s when it becomes part of the dining experience, enhancing flavours and making each course feel even more special.
Q: What if some guests have allergies or don’t drink alcohol?
Scott: That’s absolutely something we take care of. It’s really important to us that every guest is looked after really well. We offer wines that are suitable for dietary requirements and allergies, and we’re always happy to source something specific if required.
We also have some excellent non-alcoholic wines, so guests who aren’t drinking still feel included in the experience. Everyone deserves to raise a glass and be part of the celebration.
Q: Any advice for choosing the perfect wine?
Scott: My biggest tip? Go with what you enjoy. There’s this idea that certain wines have to go with certain foods – and while that’s true to a point, it doesn’t mean much if you don’t actually like the wine!
We’ll guide you through the options and make suggestions that match your menu – for example, a bold Rioja with lamb. But, if you’re not a big fan of red then we can help you find an alternative like a fresh white Rioja.
Ultimately, it’s about choosing wine you’ll genuinely enjoy drinking on the day. It’s good to get a crowd pleaser, one that all your guests will enjoy, but ensure you incorporate your favourites, too.
Q: What support can couples expect when planning their drinks?
Scott: That’s where our expertise really comes in. Our bar managers are fully trained in wine and cocktails – we’re here to talk you through all the options, suggest pairings, and help you craft a drinks menu that feels personal and unforgettable. Whether you’re a wine lover or just starting out, we’ll guide you every step of the way.
The Artemis Experience
At Artemis, we don’t believe in one-size-fits-all. We believe in drinks that are expertly curated, tailored to your tastes, and designed to complement the quality and creativity of our food offering.
Your wedding should be a reflection of who you are, and the drinks should be just as memorable as everything else. Whether it’s a crisp glass of white to go with your main course, a bottle of bubbly for the toast, or a personalised cocktail made to order at your reception, we’re here to make it exceptional.
